Craniofacial Surgery

Overview

The Division of Plastic Surgery has special expertise in treating children and adults with rare, complex disorders affecting the head and neck. The Mount Sinai Cleft & Craniofacial Program has long been a valuable resource for children and adults with congenital or acquired abnormalities of the head and neck. The center was the first of its kind in the New York metropolitan area and one of the oldest in the country.

Patients consult with a team of physicians and clinicians with expertise in treating complex craniofacial malformations. The team approach helps children with cleft and craniofacial anomalies reach their full potential. A carefully coordinated treatment plan can address these problems, often when the patients are quite young. Even in severe cases, our goal is to minimize the physical and psychological consequences of such anomalies, giving children access to a fuller, more satisfying life.
