At Mount Sinai Medical Center, we have a world renowned Pediatric Liver/Liver Transplant Program. Our Program is one of the busiest and most successful programs around the globe. Since our Program opened in 1988, we have performed over 400 pediatric liver transplants including cadaveric, living related and split liver transplants. We also offer and have performed numerous combined transplants including liver/kidney, liver/intestine and liver/bone marrow transplants. In addition to our Transplant Program, we also have a vital and active Hepatobiliary Surgery Program.
Our surgeons and pediatric hepatologists are well recognized for their clinical expertise and research activities. As a result, our center is involved in numerous NIH funded research studies. Mount Sinai is one of ten sites in the Biliary Atresia Consortium and Cholestatic Liver Disease Consortium (CLIC), both of which are funded by the National Institutes of Health. We are also involved in investigator/pharmaceutical-initiated studies for the treatment of Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in children, and treatment of Autoimmune Hepatitis in the pediatric population. Our strong clinical experience and cutting edge research allows us to provide outstanding outcomes and be one of the leading pediatric liver transplant programs in the world.
