The faculty of the Division of Pediatric Nephrology, Department of Pediatrics of Mount Sinai School of Medicine are board certified in Pediatric Nephrology and are experienced providers of specialized care to children with kidney disease, hypertension, urinary tract infections, and a wide variety of related conditions. We know that pediatric patients require a special level of support and service. Children under our care benefit from a multidisciplinary team that includes our faculty, a dietician, a social worker, and child life professionals, all trained to work with children and adolescents.
Additionally, the talented faculty and staff of the Department of Pediatrics and The Mount Sinai Hospital offer any other services our patients may require.
Outpatients are evaluated in the pediatric suite of the Mount Sinai Faculty Practice Associates facility, and once per week at our affiliate institution, Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens. We are committed to providing prompt care with an easy appointment and referral process to all children in need of services.
Inpatient care is provided at the newly renovated Kravis Children's Hospital of Mount Sinai. Besides caring for patients with kidney disease, hypertension, fluid and electrolyte abnormalities, the Division maintains an active consultative service, with extensive experience with patients requiring neonatal or pediatric intensive (ICU) care, patients with liver disease or transplant, and patients with heart disease, along with many others.
The Division of Pediatric Nephrology is one of the few in the country to offer a comprehensive program dedicated to the care of children with kidney failure. We offer state-of-the-art modalities of dialysis including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and continuous hemofiltration. Finally, we are proud to be among the nation's busiest pediatric kidney transplant centers working with the skilled surgeons of the Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute.
